Load measurement

Load measurement is an extremely complex measurement process used only in specific cases or to validate prototypes.

Where necessary, strain gages and other sensors such as lasers or proximity sensors are used to determine the condition and loading of equipment in even greater detail.

These strain gages are affixed where loads are applied – which means on housings, individual components or shafts– in order to determine whether deformation, torsion or other movement occurs. Material characteristics can then be used to draw conclusions about the effects.

Depending on the need, these measurements can take days, weeks, months or even years. The analysis of the values provided by the extensive system of sensors is extremely complex, and a wide range of factors have to be taken into consideration, such as speed and performance data.
